Threshold concept #4: Photography is an art of selection rather than invention.
During this task, I experimented with various ways of taking the same photo, what to include and what to leave out, how this would influence the remainder of the image.
"#jessiemessiemudmagnetmaguire my new series... sensitive subject but... we lost our dog, Jessie the Golden Retriever, of 12 years recently and I have compiled a series of photos that consist of things I find strange to see after loosing her."
-Gemma Maguire, introducing my hashtag about my beloved dog.
To some extent I like theses photos because they seem successful to me as the intention of the photo is conveyed to me whilst others might see it as documentary until they read into them a little more, how likely is it that I just happened to find my sister in the same stance and demeanour? Obviously its not very likely, exactly what I wanted. I also like how these photos seem almost like the 60's due to the yellow hue cast over them by the lighting and my parents choice in wall colour. However, the downfall for me is that some of them are taken further away than others making them less effective in my opinion but this could also be seen as a good thing as it further conveys the documentary style I was trying to appropriate.
