My background...
My love for photography began at the age of 10 when my uncle gave me his old, glued together, camera for my birthday. However, I already had an interest in photography as my Granny was an artist/photographer and my parents both had cameras too. This influence has sculpted some of my work particularly my work on nature and flowers (a particular interest of my grannies).
Since 10, my love for photography has grown with me and I have grown to love experimenting with various genres, especially film and portraiture.

My photography...
With context we can see how an individual has gaged/read the situation they are in allowing us to expand on the baseline story we had created at first glance, whilst without context we are able to stretch our imagination to create our own story.
However, one of the outcomes I'm most proud of is a collection of photographs of an individual dressed in the manner of a news reporter, sat quite coldly, eating dinner. I was looking into familial news, I based this on how at the family dinner table my father asks if we have 'any news today?'. I love this outcome so much because I love to use my imagination a lot, first to create the image based on my baseline ideas, next to form it and finally I composed an intriguing edit based on a prominant character in the news, regularly, today. |
As I said, I have always had an interest in photography but that has only grown since taking photography as a G.C.S.E. I have been challenged to experiment more with genres and manual manipulation, which I have a particular love of. I love the way manual manipulation allows the original meaning of an image to change and how it makes it a more personal response to any given task. I wish to expand on the manual manipulation of photographs as a route to new levels.
I have also discoved that I love how facial expressions can tell us a lot and all are up for interpretation. A love for Portraiture if you will. I did an especially curious experiment, in response to portraiture and the human figure, with a small mannequin for my year 11 coursework, I liked how the mannequin had no facial expression yet could still tell us so much. I love emotions. They can tell us so much about a person with or without context. Click the edit to see the process
